Our History and Background

Formerly registered in 2007, as Child Aid Development Foundation International (CADFIN), Partners for Relief and Development Organization (PARDO) traces it history from then, when a group of Community Development Instructors founded the association. In 2021, the founders envisioned an organization that could deliver world class social and humanitarian interventions for it increasing number of beneficiaries at local, regional and national levels in Cameroon and beyond and the name was changed from CADFIN to PARDO.

For a greater impact, the PARDO endorsed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), developed by the international community – the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all by addressing the challenges we face, including poverty, health, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and injustice.  PARDO’s capacity to serve women, children, youth, elderly, refugees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host communities has increased over the years even with limited financial and human resources.

In all active regions of operation, PARDO has established itself as an implementation partner  for many national and international Organization. PARDO that has established strategic alliances and created linkages with respective government line services and between sister Organizations in Cameroon, Africa, Asia, Europe and USA. This is through leveraging grants, donations and funding to carry out development  projects.

About us

Partners for Relief and Development Organization (PARDO) is a charitable, non-profit, and service oriented non-governmental organization that seeks to promote sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities through relief and development program as well as responding to humanitarian and emergency situations – regardless of race, religion or gender.

PARDO seeks to support basic development and programs that addresses the fundamental needs of women, children, youth, elderly and indigenous people through partnership with local and international NGOs and in accordance with humanitarian principles.

PARDO work directly with individuals, families, communities, and partner organizations to challenge the systems that perpetuate inequality and keep people poor. Together we seek to influence those in power to ensure that children, youth and women trapped in poverty have a say in the critical decisions that affect them, their families and entire communities.

Goals and Objectives

The main goal of PARDO is to create partnership and contribute to a sustainable socio-economic development of vulnerable groups (women, children, youth, elderly and indigenous people) and needy communities through community engagement, capacity building, advocacy, relief and institutional strengthening at the grass root, regional and national levels

Specific Objectives

To promote livelihood initiatives for poverty alleviation, economic autonomy for vulnerable populations such as women, children, elderly and indigenous communities;

To foster peace, justice, handwork, patriotism, conservation of the environment, and other positive social values in partnership with other civil society Organizations.

To create an avenue for human rights advocacy, peaceful resolution of conflicts, and sustain socio-economic recovery initiatives for conflict-affected population and marginalized communities;

To create awareness on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and seeking partnership for the accomplishment of such goals.

PARDO prioritize support to women, children, youth, elderly and indigenous people with and without disabilities who fall in one or more of the following categories:

  • Adolescents and teenage mothers, women (more specifically single mothers and widows).
  • Victims of human rights violations including violence against women and girls.
  • Persons with disabilities.
  • School drop outs, street children, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC).
  • Ethnic minorities, Indigenous forest people and the elderly people.
  • Internally displaced persons and other disadvantaged persons who are living in miserable conditions and deprived of very basic necessities of life.

 

Besides, PARDO also focuses upon the urban populace living in slums and other such area. PARDO target groups also include health workers, paramedics and other staff related to health issues, teachers, students, and stakeholders in the field of gender and disability inclusion, education and culture.

 

Our inclusive and participatory approach to development drives our initiatives. Target groups and beneficiaries are at the pivot of our interventions. They are involved in project conception, implementation and evaluation.

Mission
The mission of PARDO is to foster sustainable community development and humanitarian initiatives that alleviate poverty, improve lives, living standards and impact positive social transformation in partnership with local, international, public, private institutions and civil society organizations in Cameroon.
